Ron Delsener bringing David Johansen to Café Carlyle

Legendary promoter Ron Delsener’s bringing rocker David Johansen uptown.

The frontman for 1970s glam gods the New York Dolls will appear as his lounge lizard alter-ego Buster Poindexter on Halloween at upper-crust Café Carlyle.

“I’ve wanted to bring rock ’n’ roll to the Carlyle for a long time,” Delsener — who’s booked gigs by Jimi Hendrix, Barbra Streisand and the Rolling Stones — explained. “I saw David at the Cutting Room . . . I told him he should be playing uptown, where those who grew up on rock ’n’ roll now live, can see him perform, and be in bed by midnight.”

Delsner added, in his forthright style, that Johansen, 63, “doesn’t want to be trucking downtown, getting a cab home at 1 a.m.”

Tickets for the gig will go for more rock-like prices, too, at $50.

Delsener said he wants to bring more acts like Debbie Harry, Ray Davies and Patti Smith to the spot where Woody Allen’s jazz band regularly plays.

A rep for the Carlyle confirmed, “We started a late-night series as a way to experiment with new talent and potentially introduce a new crowd to the Café.”
