Mackenzie Phillips: Mindy McCready was a beautiful troubled princess

Mackenzie Phillips is grieving for her friend and former “Celebrity Rehab” co-star, Mindy McCready.

“She was a princess. She was a beautiful, troubled, princess,” the actress told “Inside Edition.”

Phillips called the suicide “astounding.”

“[Mindy] was funny. She was smart. She was loving. She was kind. She was incredibly talented,” Phillips told TMZ.

The country star’s death is the fifth death among “Celebrity Rehab” stars.

The show’s host, Dr. Drew Pinsky, has recently come under fire. Singer Richard Marx compared Dr. Drew to Dr. Kevorkian. Marx later clarified, “I went too far with the Kevorkian crack. It is, however, my opinion that what Dr. D does is exploitation and his TV track record is not good”

Phillips, however, is quick to defend the “Rehab” host. “Drew Pinsky is the kindest man,” she said to Inside Edition. “His motives aren’t suspect. He wants to help people.”
