Ski injury sidelines Kate Moss

Supermodel Kate Moss has been injured in a ski accident. The British beauty apparently suffered torn ligaments after crashing in the Swiss Alps, Page Six has learned.

Moss, who’s a regular in the posh resort town of Gstaad, says she took a tumble and tore ligaments in her knee on Thursday. Sources said she was due to return to London on Friday to be seen by her personal doctors. It is still unclear if she’ll need surgery.

Moss was due to be the main attraction at the Monday opening of Saks Fifth Avenue in Toronto, the retailer’s first store in Canada, but had to pull out after her doctors banned her from taking a long-haul flight due to her injury.

The model had been paid handsomely to appear as an ambassador for luxury skin-care line Decorté, and was due to attend a VIP cocktail reception at the store on Sunday, followed by an in-store meet and greet on Monday.

Moss said in a statement to those expecting her at the event: “It is with great disappointment that I must postpone my trip to be a part of the Decorté and Saks Fifth Avenue launch celebration due to an injury whilst skiing [. . .] in Switzerland. I am currently under medical care which prohibits me to fly overseas for now.” She added, “[I] will make every effort to reschedule my visit to the fabulous city of Toronto as soon as I am able to travel.”

A source at the event told us, “Of course it is extremely disappointing, as the whole event was based around her, but everyone is glad Kate is OK. It could have been a lot worse.”

In July, Moss landed a multiyear deal with Japanese skin-care line Decorté and recently shot their campaign with Mario Testino.

A rep for Moss — who reportedly has previously struggled to get a US visa due to her drug past — declined to comment on Saturday night.

Moss isn’t the only legendary model battling an injury. This week, Naomi Campbell was spotted at JFK in a wheelchair, then walking with a cane. Her rep said she’s recovering from a “light foot injury” but declined to elaborate.
