Donald Trump has the support of his ex-wife Ivana and her socialite friends. Ivana held a chic luncheon at Upper East Side restaurant Altesi on Wednesday for Denise Rich and about 40 friends including Ivana’s other ex, Rossano Rubicondi. She ended the two-hour lunch endorsing Trump’s White House bid.
“She got up and thanked all of her friends for coming and then led a cheer. She said, ‘Who’s voting for Donald?’ and we all raised our hands and said, ‘Yay!’ ” said longtime pal Nikki Haskell.
“They were all very pro-Donald. It was very high-spirited and very positive. Ivana did an amazing job,” she said.
But Trump shouldn’t bet on Ivana’s crew at the polls: Haskell said they were mostly Europeans, in town to attend charity and fund-raising events like Rich’s annual Angel Ball. A day before, busy Ivana was overheard at a Le Cirque lunch, hosted by Princess Katherine of Serbia, saying she urged Trump “to get into politics in the ’80s.”
The event was for charity Lifeline New York. Guests included Cheri Kaufman, Audrey Gruss, Sharon Bush and Bill Sclight.
