Eminem’s sister-in-law dead of suspected heroin overdose

Eminem’s former sister-in-law died this week of an apparent heroin overdose, according to police in her hometown of Warren, Michigan.

Dawn Scott, who was 41 at the time of her death, is the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim, and a childhood friend of the former couple. Eminem and Kim were married from 1999 to 2001 and again in 2006 before their final split.

Toxicology tests are still pending, police said.

The rapper — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — and Kim adopted and raised Dawn’s daughter, Alaina, who is now 22 years old.

In an interview with Radar Online last year, the often-homeless Scott expressed frustration at being denied financial assistance from Eminem’s estimated $170 million fortune, even though the rapper hasn’t been married to Dawn’s sister for a decade.

“I have a millionaire brother-in-law and a sister with money up the ass, but they’re refusing to give me any help,” she said.

A friend of Dawn’s named Les Martin, with whom she had lived on and off for the past four years, told the celebrity site of Dawn’s desperate phone calls to Kim in the year leading up to her death.

“I’ve been trying like hell to save her life,” Martin said. “I’ve had numerous conversations with Kim about trying to get her help and it just wasn’t a conversation she wanted to have. She wanted to let Dawn go.”

A request for comment from a rep for Eminem was not immediately returned.
