Janice Dickinson’s defamation suit against Cosby thrown out

A Los Angeles judge on Tuesday tossed a defamation lawsuit by Janice Dickinson against Bill Cosby and his lawyer — though the model’s underlying sexual assault complaint against the actor will go forward.

Dickinson accused Cosby of raping her in 1982, which prompted the actor’s lawyer Marty Singer to brand her a “liar.”

Dickinson amended her lawsuit to include a defamation claim against the men, which was tossed on Tuesday by LA County Superior Court Judge Debra Weintraub, according to Deadline Hollywood.

“The primary focus of this case has always been against Bill Cosby and remains against Bill Cosby,” Dickinson’s lawyer Lisa Bloom said following the brief hearing. “We will continue to fight the case against Bill Cosby.”

Cosby, Dickinson and Singer were not in court when Weintraub ruled from the bench. Weintraub ordered both sides back to court on Feb. 29.
