New US citizen Fabio might run for office

Watch out, Donald Trump: There could be another luxuriously locked legend running for office.

Hunky Fabio Lanzoni, famed for gracing the covers of romance novels, says he wouldn’t rule out a future political run after becoming a US citizen Wednesday.

“I’m a people person. I love people. I would definitely go for the people,” the 57-year-old told Page Six. But, “In politics you don’t go that far when you just go for the people.”

The Italian-born actor-model added of running for office, “You never know.”

Fabio emigrated from Italy 36 years ago and counts his new citizenship as one of his biggest accomplishments: “I’ve been in love with this country since I was 14 years old. Yesterday was like getting married.”

Fabio insists he won’t support a presidential candidate until he sees the top nominees debate, but says he isn’t opposed to seeing Trump on the GOP ticket despite his controversial remarks about immigration.

“I think the [election] is going to be the most incredible TV you’ve ever seen in your life — nobody is going to watch the reality shows anymore,” he opined. “Donald Trump speaks his mind. If you like it or you don’t like it, at least you know where he stands.”

As an immigrant himself, the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spokesman believes in entering the US legally.

“If you want to come to this country, the American people are the greatest people on Earth and will welcome you with open arms,” he said. “But you have to go through the system — laws are made to be respected.”
