Charlie Sheen’s daughters learned he was HIV-positive from the news

Charlie Sheen did not break the news about his HIV status to his daughters Sam, 11, and Lola, 10, before disclosing it to the world, a source tells Page Six.

“When the HIV news came out, Charlie never told them. It broke when they were at school and Denise [Richards] didn’t even have a heads-up about it. She had to explain that issue much earlier than she anticipated,” says our source.

Learning their dad’s HIV status in the media isn’t the only humiliation the girls have endured during their parents’ tumultuous relationship. We’re told they were rejected from several private schools in LA because of Sheen’s past erratic behavior. Sheen has gone on Twitter attacks in the past against their former school, Viewpoint.

“They applied to 10 schools and weren’t accepted to any of them. The schools were concerned after the situation with Viewpoint. They didn’t want to take the risk and have something about their school in the media or if he were to lash out at another child,” said our insider. “The rejection was hard because they feel like they did something wrong. Charlie explained to them the reason they couldn’t get in was because of him.”

Sam and Lola have since been accepted to another school via a family connection, but are back in the spotlight after Richards filed a suit against their dad last week for allegedly evicting them from their Mulholland Estates home, which he gifted them in a trust. Richards rented a $15,000-a-month home near their school and is suing Sheen for $1.2 million.

A source close to Sheen told us the lawsuit comes “from Denise wanting more money. She owns a $7 million house in Hidden Hills, but she didn’t want to drive 20 minutes to the kids’ school, so she decided to rent a place closer.”

But a Richards source points out she had the home before she married Sheen: “Her house has nothing to do with the trust. It’s not a part of her divorce and it isn’t part of her settlement. It doesn’t matter if she has an apartment or 10 homes. He made a trust [for their kids] and that’s what he put in it.”

A rep for Sheen did not get back to us.
