One Hamptons resident is furious with Matt Lauer because, he claims, Lauer’s blocking his view — of Lauer’s property!

Page Six has learned that Water Mill’s Jack Wasserman fired off a legal letter this week to the “Today” host and his lawyers to complain about a plan by Lauer and his wife to plant trees on their own 40-acre Bright Side Farm.

Wasserman claimed to Page Six that Lauer plans to plant trees “along the northerly boundary of the farm property, with the vast majority being planted along the perimeter of Jack and Jodi Wasserman’s property, which currently has unobstructed views of the Farm.”

The neighbor adds, “The proposed trees would obliterate the Wassermans’ views of the Farm,” and he also claims the landscaping would violate Southampton Planning Board restrictions.

But sources close to the Lauers said the plan to plant the trees was made with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets as a safety precaution for their horse farm, which includes stalls for 36 horses and 16 paddocks.

“The Lauers were informed that the trees should be planted for the safety of horses and people,” said a source. “Planting trees creates safety for horses because they can get easily spooked” by the road or activity in people’s pools. “The state and the town all agreed. The agency felt like the trees should be planted for safety. Everything is completely by the books.” The source also disputed the number of trees cited by Wasserman.

Wasserman’s also grousing that he and his wife “have concerns regarding the nature of the farm’s present business use,” claiming it is not allowed to be used as a riding academy, but is billed on its Web site as a “full-service riding and boarding facility.” A farm source said its horses are only ridden by clients who board them on the property, and that it’s not open to the public.

In true Hamptons whining tradition, neighbors have been grousing over various plans at Lauer’s farm since he bought it in 2012. Legal reps and the Southampton Planning Board didn’t get back to us for comment.
