Jane Birkin wants her name removed from iconic Hermès handbag

English style icon Jane Birkin has had enough of Hermès using her name on their famous crocodile handbag.

“Having been alerted to the cruel practices reserved for crocodiles during their slaughter to make Hermès handbags carrying my name . . . I have asked Hermès to de-baptize the Birkin Croco until better practices in line with international norms can be put in place,” she said Tuesday, after PETA released a video of the creatures being killed to make the bags.

The bag, designed for Birkin in 1984, is a status symbol for Upper East Side ladies.

The exotic version costs from $36,000 to $432,000.

Hermès said it’s investigating PETA’s findings, and that one Texas farm implicated does not supply skins for the bags.
