Vogue editor and Met Gala guru Anna Wintour is secretly revamping the Tonys to become more glamorous.

We hear American Theatre Wing chair and costume designer William Ivey Long asked Wintour to help make his red carpet at the awards, on June 7, more chic.

“Anna’s an unpaid, uncredited, top-secret consultant,” said a source. “She’s going to spruce up the carpet, make it more special, which is something they’ve never had.”

It remains to be seen whether the Tonys carpet can be a fashion parade to rival other awards shows, like the Oscars.

After the 2014 Tonys, Wintour deemed the affair a fashion disaster.

“I was just recently at the Tony Awards . . . and, God, they need your help. Let me tell you, it was a disaster,” she said during an interview with Suzy Menkes at Central Saint Martins in London.

“How many mermaid fishtail strapless sequin [gowns] can we see?”

The sartorial situation was so bleak, just three fashion brands reportedly sent out e-mails claiming dress credits from the awards.

Brands that did dress stars included Narciso Rodriguez, Stella McCartney and Sophie Theallet, and the few fashion successes in evidence included Emmy Rossum, Vera Farmiga, Jennifer Hudson, Ethan Hawke and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Those Page Six saw in need of serious fashion interventions were: Idina Menzel, Kate Mara, Orlando Bloom, Fran Drescher, Leighton Meester, Fantasia Barrino, Sting, Gladys Knight, nominee Adriane Lenox, Judith Light and Gloria Estefan.

And that was before Lucy Liu nearly had the endless poofy train of her Vivienne Westwood dress snarled in an escalator at the Plaza.
