Salma Hayek meets with Syrian refugee children

Someone give her the “Tripoli” crown.

Salma Hayek on Sunday made her first trip to her father’s ancestral homeland of Lebanon, where she met with Syrian refugee children living in the country.

The 48-year-old actress, who is also half-Mexican, announced last month that she and her billionaire husband, François-Henri-Pinault, would be donating to help build schools for refugees in Lebanon.

Her trip comes after fellow Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie ripped world leaders at the UN for ignoring the plight of the refugees.

On Monday, Hayek will attend the world premiere of “The Prophet,” an animated film she produced — and which is based on the book by Lebanese philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran — in a downtown Beirut cinema. She is also scheduled to host a charity gala and auction at a swanky Beirut restaurant to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon.

Hayak says “The Prophet” is about “the courage to speak up, to believe you are worth being listened to.”
