Hipsters flock to Lincoln Center for ‘Shield and Spear’

A hip Brooklyn crowd trekked to the Walter Reade Theater for the premiere of director Petter Ringbom’s “Shield and Spear” — a documentary about politically active artists in South Africa.

The film’s part of Lincoln Center’s Sound + Vision series, which this year also includes Florian Habicht’s new doc on UK rockers Pulp, and Eric Green’s movie “Beautiful Noise,” about bands the Jesus and Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine.

Guests who saw “Shield and Spear,” including LCD Soundsystem singer James Murphy and Shipley & Halmos fashion designer Jeff Halmos, later headed to Le Baron, where Cape Town artist Xander Ferreira deejayed with Sudanese spinmaster Sinkane.
