Katy Perry’s romance with John Mayer is officially back on. Nearly a year after they broke up, the pair made a dramatic entrance together at Hollywood hot spot the Tower Bar, surprising a room full of A-list stars into silence.
The singers, who confirmed their split in February 2014, turned up together Thursday night at the West Hollywood restaurant in the Sunset Tower Hotel and proceeded to canoodle over dinner before astonished fellow diners.
Perry, who’s preparing for the Feb. 1 Super Bowl halftime show, and Mayer had been rumored to be reconciling after they were spotted having a quiet dinner at a friend’s home in Los Angeles last weekend.
But one diner at Tower Bar said, “Katy Perry and John Mayer walked in together, arm in arm, and the whole room literally fell silent.” We’re told the couple had used to frequent the elegant eatery when they were previously dating.
The witness continued, “Even Dimitri Dimitrov — Hollywood’s most famous maitre d’, who has seen everything — and Sunset Tower owner Jeff Klein both stopped mid-sentence when John and Katy arrived, as if they wanted to announce to everyone in Hollywood they are back together.”
The on-again couple were seated at a table next to director and producer Lee Daniels, who was dining with Naomi Campbell. The supermodel has a major recurring role in Daniels’ new Fox hip-hop drama “Empire,” which also stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. At another table were Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon.
Also there were “American Sniper” director Clint Eastwood, with a table of old-guard Hollywood producers; fashionista Liz Goldwyn with Dita Von Teese; plus Kid Cudi with Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung.
Perry, 30, and Mayer, 37, have reunited nearly a year after ending their romance. They first started dating in 2012 after her marriage to Russell Brand ended. Reps for Perry and Mayer didn’t comment by deadline.
