‘Girls’ cast flocks to see co-star Rannells on Broadway

Andrew Rannells’ debut as Hedwig in Broadway hit “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” served as a mini “Girls” reunion, with several cast members turning out for his appearance.

Rannells, who stars on the HBO drama as creator/actress Lena Dunham’s ex-boyfriend, took his turn as transgendered Hedwig Wednesday night, replacing Neil Patrick Harris.

Dunham, Zosia Mamet and boyfriend Evan Jonigkeit, Jennifer Westfeldt, Danny Strong, and “Hedwig” author John Cameron Mitchell were spotted in the crowd.

We’re told Dunham was so excited for Rannells, she waited outside in the pen with the post-show autograph seekers for him to leave the theater.

She didn’t wait long — “Hedwig” producers spotted her with the masses and brought her to the after-party at the Lambs Club restaurant to celebrate with the cast and crew.

Guests there also included Tony winner Lena Hall, Sara Bareilles, Camryn Manheim, Gavin Creel, “Hedwig” producer David Binder, composer Stephen Trask and director Michael Mayer.
