“MILK” director Gus Van Sant and “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis have signed up to co-write a screenplay on the tragic suicides of famed East Village artists Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake, Variety reports. Producers have optioned screen rights to “The Golden Suicides,” a Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales about the tragic couple. Duncan, one of the first designers of video games for girls, and Blake, who created “digital paintings” on plasma screens, spiraled into paranoia and believed they were being stalked and harassed by Scientologists. She killed herself in 2007, and he drowned himself in the Atlantic Ocean a week later.
