Patrick McMullan was none too pleased with online gossip maven Nick Denton at New York magazine’s party at the Paramount Hotel the other night. An irate McMullan confronted Denton and demanded to know why one of his blogs had focused on an assertion from a recent New York Times profile — that the photographer charges fees for removing unflattering photos from his Web site. The blog accused McMullan of “something close to blackmail.” “Patrick approached him and was like, ‘Seriously?’ He was pretty aggressive,” says a spy. “It looked like it was going to get ugly for a moment. But they seemed to work it out.” Says Denton, “It started off pretty finger-poking but ended friendly enough. We’re going to get lunch.” McMullan told Page Six, “I charge $10 to take photos down . . . I’m not making a fortune.”
