Richard Ravitch was thrown a curveball question during a media scrum the other day after speaking to the NY Building Congress at the Hilton: Does it bother you when Mayor Bloomberg refers to you as “Richard Ravitz”? “Does it bother me? I can think of a lot of worse names he could call me,” the gruff and gravelly Ravitch said with a chuckle. City Hall insiders said the mispronouncing of Ravitch’s name is one of Hizzoner’s Bloombergisms. “Hey, if he can call Joe Torre ‘Torres,’ he can certainly call Ravitch ‘Ravitz,” one mayor watcher said.
