French Vogue editrix bungles Fashion Night Out

French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld must not have gotten the memo from American Vogue’s Anna Wintour that last week’s Fashion Night Out event was supposed to boost retail sales, not hinder them. Unlike the wildly successful New York event, which was open to the public, the Paris version of the shopping block party, held on the famed Avenue Montaigne and overseen by Roitfeld, turned out to be an invitation-only affair. When one stylish couple decided to spend some big euros at the event, they were turned away from every boutique and told they needed to be on the list or a VIP to enter. “So much for our Fashion Night Out,” said one of the pair. “Each Vogue editor has personalized Fashion’s Night Out for her city, resulting in a wonderful experience in every country,” Wintour informed Page Six. “FNO has been a huge success globally; we have heard only positive feedback from the event in Paris.”
