Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” is about to blow past $50 million at the domestic box office and the film’s distributor, Sony Pictures Classics, thinks the Woodman’s time-travel romance still has more gas in the tank. Because of the positive response to the picture, Michael Barker and Tom Bernard’s company is taking it out wide again, moving it from its current 328 theaters into between 500 and 600 on Aug. 26. The movie starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams has become Allen’s highest-grossing ever, earning $83.4 million worldwide. “Paris” opened in just six theaters, but caught fire and spread out to 1,038 in June. It’s been playing for over 13 weeks to date. Allen’s next effort, “The Bop Decameron,” is shooting in Rome, starring himself Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page. Look for bidding for the film’s rights to go through the roof now that “Paris” is burning.
