Hilary Duff, Comrie signed prenup

Hockey hunk Mike Comrie might have wanted a pre-nuptial agreement more than his actress bride Hilary Duff did before they got married last weekend — his family is worth $500 million.

The former Edmonton Oiler and the Disney star made sure to protect their assets before getting hitched in front of 100 family and friends Saturday evening in Santa Barbara, according to sources.

“It was a totally amicable agreement. They love each other very much and knew this was just a technicality,” said one insider.

While Duff, 22, made her fortune starring as Lizzie McGuire in the hit Disney television series and in PG-rated movies including “A Cinderella Story,” Comrie, 29, a free agent this off-season, is the heir to a fortune in Canada.

Comrie’s father, Bill, founded furniture and appliance retailer The Brick in Edmonton. Bill’s net worth has been estimated to be as high as $500 million. Comrie’s NHL nickname, “The Brick,” comes from the family business.

Duff and Comrie got engaged in February while vacationing in Hawaii after more than two years of dating.

During their courtship, Comrie spared no expense in showing affection towards his girlfriend. For Duff’s 20th birthday, he surprised her with a $100,000 Mercedes G-class SUV. And Duff’s engagement ring is worth a reported $1 million.

The Saturday ceremony “was out of a storybook, costing well over half a million dollars,” a source estimated. Duff, OK! magazine reported, walked down the aisle in a Vera Wang dress.

Duff struck a deal with OK! for exclusive coverage of her wedding in a pact worth around $1 million, according to insiders.

A rep for Comrie declined to comment on the prenup, and Duff’s rep didn’t respond to our calls.
