A serene-looking Princess Charlene wowed on her first outing in New York as a married royal with her husband, Prince Albert II of Monaco. The new princess, who wed Albert this summer amid a storm of controversy, met top New York donors to the Princess Grace Foundation yesterday over lunch at Daniel on East 65th Street. Albert made a speech, saying the foundation was established “in memory of my mother’s passion for the arts.” He then offered a toast to Charlene’s close friend Camilla Olsson, who is celebrating her birthday today. Guests say Charlene, a South African former swimmer, looked stylish in a sleeveless black dress with a conservative string of pearls and sat beside her husband. One onlooker said, “They seemed relaxed together but you couldn’t see any sparks flying. She did a wonderful job.” Guests included Lynn Wyatt, Denise Rich, Jimmy Coleman and Cynthia Ott. The prince was also overheard telling one guest his life was calmer now that he’s married.
