While word spreads that “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” villain Scott Disick had a fling with “The Hills” star Kristin Cavallari while he was on a break from long-term girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, Cavallari insists that the rumors are false. Furthermore, she alleges that the Kardashian machine is advancing the story to drum up publicity for the premiere of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” and to distract attention from Kim Kardashian, who has been heavily maligned after filing for divorce from basketball star Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage.

“It’s 100 percent not true,” Cavallari tells “Access Hollywood.” “I just think, what convenient timing for them with their show premiering next week and with everything that’s going on for Kim, I feel like they’re trying to take the heat off her.”

The rumors began with this week’s Life & Style cover, which features a photo of Kourtney, as well as one of Disick with his arm around Cavallari, alongside the headline, “Betrayed! Scott’s Affair with Kristin.”

The magazine alleges that Disick had a fling with Cavallari in 2009, shortly before Kardashian got pregnant with son Mason. “Scott and Kristin hooked up in Las Vegas during a time that he was on a break from Kourtney,” a source told the magazine. “Kourtney was furious.” Cavallari and Kardashian had been close friends ever since Cavallari dated Brody Jenner, Kardashian’s step-brother, in 2006.

Another source told Life & Style that Disick and Cavallari were together more than once. “Actually, Scott and Kristin were hooking up on and off for a year,” says the anonymous friend. “When Kourt and Scott would fight, he’d party with Kristin.”

The magazine furthers that although Kardashian and Disick’s relationship is solid now, Kardashian didn’t want her man on the set of “Dancing with the Stars” cheering on her brother Rob Kardashian, lest he be tempted by Cavallari, also a contestant on the show, in skimpy sequined costumes.

But Cavallari holds that this is all bunk information, perhaps even promoted by Kardashian and Disick.

“When there’s a big story like that, they always call you and ask if you want to comment and clearly none of them denied it,” Cavallari said. “It’s disrespectful to me and [my fiance] Jay [Cutler] and I think it just says a lot about their character … People can say whatever they want. It’s crazy. It blows my mind.”
