Rihanna was none too pleased that her mother, Monica Braithwaite, joked about the “We Found Love” singer’s alleged romp with Ashton Kutcher during last night’s Time 100 Gala at Lincoln Center.
As Rihanna was honored at the event celebrating Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people — which this year included Tim Tebow, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kate Middleton — the star’s mother referenced her daughter making a late night trip to see “Two and a Half Men” star Kutcher last month.
While Rihanna had been spotted arriving at Kutcher’s Los Angeles home at midnight on March 21, she did not leave until 4 a.m. — sparking rumors of a dalliance between the two.

While Braithwaite’s exact joke has not been reported, Rihanna herself revealed to fans that the quip had been made. She tweeted last night, “Well….2nt consisted of us singing Bob Marley, drinkin Vintage Scotch, and my mom thinkin a joke abt Kutcher was appropriate! #Thxtime100.”
Rihanna appeared not to be too hurt by her mom’s jab, but the star has gotten snippy with reporters who have asked about Kutcher in the past, telling one, “I’m single, if that’s what you’re really asking.”
Earlier this month, Rihanna even walked out of an Australian TV interview after the subject of Kutcher was broached. The actor is now believed to be seeing his former “That ’70s Show” co-star Mila Kunis.

At the last night’s Time 100 Gala, Rihanna stunned in a hot pink Vivienne Westwood ball gown, an unusual choice for the “Umbrella” singer who generally prefers edgy to girly. She changed into a silver printed leather ensemble with a red bow across the chest as she took the stage to perform. The singer brought both her mom and grandfather Lionel Braithwaite as her dates.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, Kristen Wiig, Tyra Banks, Claire Danes, Tilda Swinton, Chelsea Handler, Andre Balazs, Barbara Walters, Amy Poehler and Louis C.K. all attended the event, too.
