Rosie O’Donnell is irate that Lindsay Lohan has been officially cast as Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime biopic, telling TV personality Donny Deutsch that he is “out of his mind” and a “crackhead” for thinking Lohan could pull off the role.

“I feel very sorry for her,” O’Donnell said, ranting about Lohan on “Today” this morning in a discussion with Matt Lauer, Star Jones and Deutsch. “I think she needs a lot of time away … She’s had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including ‘SNL.’ She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she’s not in a place to work.”

When Deutsch suggested that Lohan is perfect for the upcoming film “Liz and Dick” because she is “our generation’s Elizabeth Taylor,” O’Donnell got fired up.

“You’re out of your mind! You’re a crackhead! The last thing she did good she was sixteen,” said O’Donnell. “I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.”

Producers of the Lifetime biopic had revealed yesterday that Lohan had, after months of reports, been officially signed to play Taylor.

Speaking to E! News yesterday, producer Larry Thompson defended his decision saying, “We have more than a Plan B. Lindsay Lohan may be the most insured actress that ever walked on a soundstage.”

Thompson also revealed that production of the film had been moved from Canada to Los Angeles to accommodate Lohan. Still, he believes Lohan’s personal troubles will actually help her nail the part.

He said, “I think it is still, for the movie, a great risk to run.”
