Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gives a nod to the Coppertone girl on the back cover of her new book, “Gorilla Beach.”
In the heavily retouched image, Snooki walks on the beach in towering, nude-colored platforms. A black dog is behind her, nipping at her bathing suit bottom and threatening to reveal the “Jersey Shore” star’s pale backside, just like in the vintage image. But while the Coppertone girl appears embarrassed, covering her mouth and blushing, Snooki looks overjoyed in her version of the image.

The reality TV star, who is currently five months pregnant, is not only heavily made up in the snapshot — it also appears that she has been significantly slimmed with the the help of Photoshop.
Earlier this year, Snooki tweeted images from her book cover photo shoot, asking fans for input on which to choose. The tweeted images give a taste of the digital manipulation used on the cover, as the originals were taken in a white-walled studio instead of on an actual beach. In one of the images Snooki posted, she lies on a surfboard giving a hang-ten symbol with one hand. On the cover, said surfboard is being carried by two beefy men. But in the original, Snooki lies on a surfboard rigged atop wooden crates.
“Gorilla Beach” will be available in bookstores May 15. The tome is a follow-up to Snooki’s New York Times best-selling novel, ” A Shore Thing.”
Snooki’s “Jersey Shore” spin-off series, “Snooki and JWoww vs. The World” premieres on MTV on June 21.
