Chelsea Handler on her long-distance relationship with Andre Balazs

Now that Chelsea Handler and hotelier Andre Balazs are back on, the comedian has revealed why they broke in the first place — because she found their bi-coastal relationship “exhausting.”

“He lived in New York and I lived in LA, and it was a constant back and forth, flying and meeting each other. . . it was just exhausting,” Handler said while appearing on comedian Marc Maron’s podcast, “WTF,” yesterday. “It was extremely time consuming and it was really, really hard for me to focus on anything at all. It kind of took the wind out of me. . . it drained me from my career, it drained me from my work. I wasn’t focused on anything. It was just stress.”

Handler and Balazs split last November, after about a year together. The pair, however, rekindled their romance this year over Grammy weekend and stepped out for the first time as a couple once again in late February.

Last week, Page Six exclusively revealed that Handler had been spending time with both Balazs and his daughter, Alessandra. The trio were seen dining at the corner table of Balazs’ Chateau Marmont on April 25.

Perhaps Handler says she has learned that duel city relationships actually have their advantages.

“I prefer a long-distance relationship,” she said. “Because I don’t really want to deal with someone on a daily basis.”

In addition to discussing her relationship with Balazs, Handler also spoke to Maron about her two-month fling with 50 Cent, revealing that the rapper wooed her by sending flowers after appearing on “Chelsea Lately.”

“He is a sweet guy, not anything like you would imagine,” she said. “[But] that was the last time I’ll ever date a famous person. That’s not gonna work for me.”
