Cameron Diaz has revealed that the short hair she debuted in January was not only an accident — but that the cut led her to “burst into tears.”
“There was a little misunderstanding. I said I just wanted a little bit cut off and it went from here to here,” Diaz said during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” last night. “It was one of those moments where I just couldn’t … I just burst into tears.”
“I felt so vulnerable. For a woman to all of a sudden have no hair,” Diaz continued, gripping her chair in horror. “Oh my God.”
Diaz revealed that the incident happened when she went to a friend’s house for a haircut just before the holidays. She says the friend has been cutting her hair for ages.
“It was the night before she was leaving to go away for Christmas with her family. It was 10 o’clock at night and we were running around just trying to get in the haircut,” said Diaz.
“I yelled at her, I screamed at her,” said Diaz when Leno asked how she reacted. “No, she felt really bad. I felt really bad. She started crying. I started crying.”
Diaz said that she’s gotten used to the cut, and is happy to have short hair for her upcoming 40th birthday.
“I’m so excited,” she said. “When I was in my 20s, I couldn’t wait to get to my 30s. Now that I’m in my 30s, I’m so looking forward to my 40s. I love getting older.”
