Kate Upton is on the hunt for a guy who “smells nice” and is “passionate about something.”
In a new video for the website AskMen.com, Upton sits down on a couch and discusses the qualities she likes in a guy. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl, who has played coy about whether she is dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, says that she is looking for the traditional qualities — someone who is attractive, clever, and likes to laugh — but gives bonus points for guys who love horses.
“I need a guy who’s very attractive and they smell nice,” says Upton, no doubt because she is a spokeswoman for Axe Sport Blast, a body wash and shampoo for men. “It definitely happens more often than you would think when someone comes up and you think, ‘Oh he’s really attractive and seems really nice’ and it just doesn’t work because he smells bad.”
“Pick-up lines they never work,” continues Upton, who is especially covered-up in a tweed jacket in the video. “If you come up to me and use a pick-up line, I’m probably going to just walk away and forget about you. I block them out. They’re not the highlight of my night.”

“I think someone clever, witty and funny is very attractive,” adds Upton. “I like to laugh. I like to have a good time. I don’t like to be so serious about things. So I want a guy who would want to laugh and have a good time too.”
Upton says that it doesn’t really matter what a guy talks to her about as long as they are sincere.
“Everyone has their own interests. I love horses and some people think that’s weird. But if you’re yourself and come up and are confident enough to talk to me [whatever your interest is] it’s fine. You’re passionate about something. I really think that’s a really good quality” she says. “If you’re not confident enough to come talk, obviously nothing’s gonna come of it because we’re not even going to meet.”
