Bill Clinton misses freedom to drive a car

Bill Clinton desperately misses being able to drive his own car.

During an interview on “Ellen” to air today, DeGeneres asks the former president, “What’s the one thing you miss everyday that you wish you could do, that you can’t because of who you are?”

“Drive,” says Clinton, laughing before explaining that he’s not allowed to man his own vehicle. “I mean, if I wanted to give up Secret Service protection for life, I could do it.”

DeGeneres asks, “Could you drive just in circles on your lawn?”

“That’s why whenever I play golf, I always make them let me drive the golf cart,” explained Clinton.

DeGeneres also asked Clinton how he heard that Osama bin Laden had been killed, wondering if his wife Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had given him a heads up.

“I was notified by the White House, not the State Department,” Clinton stressed. “She never said a word to me about this, which is exactly the right thing … When [Hillary] got named to that position I said, ‘Look, I don’t want anymore briefings unless the President or the National Security Council, the White House people want me to have it. Because I give too many talks, I do too much work. I never want to inadvertently say something that complicates their job.'”

“So then you called and said, ‘I know, you can tell me now?'” asked DeGeneres.

Clinton responded, “More or less.”
