The buzz over Nicki Minaj possibly joining the ‘American Idol’ judges table has barely settled and co-judge Mariah Carey is having diva fits already, according to reports.
Carey is furious at “Idol” execs because she was led to believe she would be the only female judge, sources told TMZ.
Having one who is much younger (Minaj is 29, Carey is 42) only added insult to injury.
Carey, who officially joined the show in July, was peeved enough to hang up on the producers when they broke the news, reported the site.
The panel has yet to be filled, as Randy Jackson is not confirmed to return. TMZ suggests that Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias are being considered should Jackson leave the show.
The “Starships” singer made headlines yesterday when Us Weekly reported she would be joining the long-running reality singing competition.
“I’m not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it,” an insider revealed. “A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening.”
No response from the Carey camp. However, she tweeted a picture with Lenny Kravitz on the set of their new movie “The Butler.” She wrote: ‘@AmericanIdol What’s going on? need the info!! What about this combo? : ) if we could ever get him to do it!.’
