Taylor Swift crashed Kennedy wedding, Kathie Lee confirms

Kathie Lee Gifford confirmed on “Today” that Taylor Swift was told to leave the Kyle Kennedy-Liam Kerry wedding twice.

Turns out the daytime TV hostess is stepmother to Victoria Gifford Kennedy, the mother of the bride who ranted to the Boston Herald that the country super star crashed her daughter’s wedding on Aug. 18.

“Why can’t I stay out of trouble? I was just a guest at that wedding. [Kyle] is actually my granddaughter by marriage,” Gifford said. “The truth is, because I was there, Vicki’s account is accurate.”

She added that Swift and her new beau Conor Kennedy were, in fact, asked to leave twice. Giving the Grammy winner the benefit of the doubt, she added, “I’m not sure [Taylor] didn’t know she was invited.”

Kathie Lee recalled that she saw the singer “in the hallway, waiting around” and “didn’t know there was any drama going on at the time until I spoke to Vicki.”

She confirmed that Victoria was wary of the famous singer detracting from her daughter’s nuptials: “It’s the bride’s day, and that was Vicki’s other concern. ‘This is my daughter’s day and I would appreciate it if you would not come.’”

Swift’s Kennedy wedding crash made headlines when Victoria told the Boston Herald she was an unwelcomed guest. “They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come. I responded with a very clear, ‘Please do not come.’ They came anyway,” said Victoria.

Victoria continued: “I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave. It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me.”

Swift’s rep, Paula Erikson, insisted to the publication that the country singer was a welcomed guest and the bride was happy to have her there.

“There is no truth to that,” Erikson said. “Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there.”
