Before the world could even think up an affectionate Katy Perry-John Mayer nickname, the songbirds have reportedly ended their unconfirmed relationship.
“They’ll end up as friends,” a source told People. “They were honestly having fun. People made it out to be far more than it was.”
Perry and Mayer sparked rumors of a budding courtship earlier this month after being spotted on a Chateau Marmont dinner date and at a birthday party for talent agent Michael Kives.
Their reps have stayed quiet on the subject.
Meanwhile, the recently divorced “Firework” singer indicated in Elle’s September issue that she hasn’t given up on marriage. “I’m a woman who likes to be courted, strongly,” Perry said. “Never say never, I guess you’d say. I’ll let love take the lead on that.”
