Mitt Romney made a surprising endorsement yesterday: The GOP candidate admitted that when it comes to reality TV, he’s a firm backer of MTV power-gnome Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
“I’m kind of a Snooki fan,” Romney — not your typical “Jersey Shore” fan — said in the surprising interview that will air Tuesday on “Live! With Kelly and Michael,” about the plastic-heeled and perma-tanned new mom. Romney was even impressed with how Snooki has lost her baby bulge, “Look how tiny she’s gotten. She’s lost weight. She’s energetic. Just her spark-plug personality is kind of fun.”
Mitt said he even prefers Snooki over “Toddlers & Tiaras” breakout star Honey Boo Boo, while Romney’s wife, Ann, dismissed the Kardashian klan, saying, “ Who can keep up with the Kardashians?”
In the candid interview, the Romneys opened up about an embarrassing moment — seeing a semi-naked then-President George W. Bush.
Ann recalled that she and the wife of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Anita, were once “exploring” 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. when they accidentally came upon Bush getting a massage.
“He was covered up, but I was so embarrassed that, the next time I did see him, I didn’t know what I was going to say to him,” Ann reportedly says in the interview. “We were going down the elevator from the White House, going to an event together — and I walked up to the elevator and am just like blushing, blushing, blushing. And he looks at me, and he winks, as he does, and says, ‘I look pretty good, don’t I?’ ”
Michael Strahan asked the candidate what he wears to bed, and Romney replied, “Really? Really? . . . I hear the best answer is as little as possible.” Ann admitted Mitt snores. He said she hogs the blankets at night. Too much information.
Romney also answered questions about who he’d want to play him in a Hollywood movie.“For me, my favorite actor is Gene Hackman, so I’d like Gene Hackman,” he said. And to play Ann? “Maybe Michelle Pfeiffer.”
