Fashion fight! Womenswear designer Azzedine Alaia slammed Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld in online magazine Virgine this week. Paris-based Alaia, 71, said of Chanel creative director Lagerfeld, “I don’t like his fashion, his spirit, his attitude. It’s too much caricature. Karl Lagerfeld never touched a pair of scissors in his life.” Alaia also lashed out at the Vogue editor-in-chief, “She runs the business very well, but not the fashion part. When I see how she is dressed, I don’t believe in her tastes one second . . . Anyway, who will remember Anna Wintour in the history of fashion? No one.” A Vogue rep had no comment, and a Chanel rep didn’t get back to us. Alaia also sparred with Wintour in 2009. After he felt snubbed by her at the Costume Institute’s “The Model as Muse” exhibition, he pulled dresses that his model muses Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista were scheduled to wear to Wintour’s Met Ball.
