Vogue senior accessories editor Filipa Fino denies industry speculation that her abrupt departure from the magazine on Friday was linked to allegations that she kept accessories samples for her personal stash or was being paid to consult for fashion brands while still at the Condé Nast title. She told us yesterday she never received compensation for her advice to accessories labels during her 11-year tenure. But Fino launched her own consultancy on Monday and is prepping an accessories blog. “I got a lot of offers prior to this to consult. I never took them, because you’re not allowed to” as a Vogue editor, she said. Asked if she ever kept samples from designers or manufacturers, she replied, “I’ve never kept anything that wasn’t gifted to me.” Fino called her co-workers “family” but said she didn’t speak directly with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour when she left: “I sent her an e-mail.” When asked if she was fired, Fino replied, “Those are all rumors.” A Vogue rep only confirmed she had left.
