Jay Leno jokes about ‘elimination’ from ‘The Tonight Show’

Jay Leno took another shot at his own network last night as NBC execs plot to replace him with Jimmy Fallon as the host of “The Tonight Show”

During his opener, the late-night host asked his audience during a taping yesterday, “Are you all excited about March Madness?”

He continued, “Are you all into March Madness? People are talking about who’s in, who’s out, who’s gonna be eliminated. And that’s just here at NBC. I’ve never been in the paper this much. It’s fantastic.”

Leno has routinely mocked NBC’s poor ratings and his bosses – who he called “snakes” on Monday.

FOX MAY WANT LENO TO HOST NEW LATE-NIGHT SHOW

“NBC is doing so badly we don’t have reruns because nobody saw the show the first time,” he joked on February 28.

If the Peacock network doesn’t want Leno, Fox wants to give him a new home.

The head of Fox’s powerful affiliate board — who represents the majority of the 206 Fox stations around the country, said yesterday he favors building a new late-night show — starting at 11 o’clock — around the departing “Tonight Show” host.

“If Fox were to present the right business plan, the affiliate board would be interested,” Steve Pruett, the board chairman, told The Post.
