The Webbys are probably the only awards show on the planet where Justin Bieber and Barack Obama are in the same category.
The 2013 Webby Award nominees were announced today and the President and the pop star have each been tapped for best Social Media Campaigns in the Interactive Advertising & Media.
Bieber received a nod for his “Girlfriend” fragrance launch while Obama got one for his “Obama for America” re-election campaign.
The two join other Internet-savvy celebs like Lena Dunham, Jerry Seinfeld, Lady Gaga and many more for the annual awards ceremony that honors some of the most interesting things on the Web.
Besides showbiz stars, the awards show honors viral YouTube videos, mobile apps and Web advertising. Last year, Instagram won Breakout of the Year, Nyan Cat was the Meme of the Year and Louis C.K. won Person of the Year.
Fans can vote for the The Webbys’ People’s Voice Awards. Voting ends at midnight on April 25. The show will take place May 21 and will be broadcast at WebbyAwards.com a day after.
