Now hair this: Intrepid rocks

Bobby Brown caused a ruckus at DJ Cassidy‘s 30th birthday party on the USS Intrepid by pulling a waitress’s hair when she walked away from him as they were talking.

R&B bad-boy Brown got into a tangle with the catering staffer before he performed with his ’80s band New Edition at Cassidy’s celebrity-packed birthday bash onboard the aircraft carrier Wednesday night.

A source told us, “During the band’s sound check earlier that evening, Bobby was talking to one of the waitresses, but she walked away from the conversation before he was finished talking. Then Bobby pulled her ponytail. She complained to her bosses, and Intrepid security called event organizers.”

Our source said when Brown, famed for his troubled marriage to Whitney Houston, and his team returned to the Intrepid for the event, “security spoke to Bobby’s management and the situation was resolved.”

A rep for Brown confirmed the incident, saying, “It wasn’t anything detrimental or anything. He did it in a playful way and it was fine. It was a misunderstanding. Everything was fine; no one had any issues.”

But Brown and New Edition had another issue: the band arrived later than expected because their stylist, Scott Julion, arrived late after his flight from New Orleans was diverted to Baltimore. “He made it in time for the gig, and the band got dressed as fast as they could,” said a rep for New Edition.

Brown and crew prepped for their show with a little backstage prayer and rocked their hits, including “If It Isn’t Love” and “Candy Girl,” for a crowd including Alessandra Ambrosio, Tyson Beckford, Chanel Iman and Patricia Field. Guests noted that staff handing out Hennessy Black cocktails were especially attractive.

Right before New Edition took the stage, Swizz Beatz arrived with Knick Carmelo Anthony just before the party reached its 1,000-person capacity and the doors were closed. Swizz then gave a surprise performance for the birthday boy.
