Soap opera icon Susan Lucci entertained guests with a funny, self-deprecating song at the Bay Street Theatre’s Rock the Dock Summer Benefit on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor Saturday. The Queen of Daytime Television, who received more than 20 Emmy nominations for playing Erica Kane on “All My Children” but only won once, told stories about her career and sang Marvin Hamlisch’s “Winning Isn’t Everything.” The song includes the line, “Winning isn’t everything, a nomination is just the same/At the Emmy’s there was nothing to report.” It continues, “Eighteen years of ‘Boy that Susan Lucci’ is a sport!’ And each year in advance I’d think there was a chance/At least I’ve got a closet full of fancy dresses.” Sandy and Nelson DeMille, Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman, Tracy Mitchell, Karen Ziemba, Peter Scolari and more enjoyed cocktails, a silent auction and a raffle for items like a two-year lease for a 2013 Mini Cooper Convertible.
