Aretha Franklin asked for two things before she performed at the grand wedding of former Intrepid Museum president Bill White and Bryan Eure Sunday night at the Four Seasons Restaurant — a $250,000 fee and the air conditioning to be turned off so the room would reach a steamy 86 degrees to keep her voice perfect. Of the money, White said: “This was not the fee, which we agreed with Ms. Franklin not to discuss. Whatever her fee was, the Queen of Soul was worth every penny.” White and Eure married in a ceremony officiated by top lawyer David Boies in front of nearly 700 guests including Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Barbara Walters, Gayle King, Clive Davis, former Gov. David Paterson, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and supermodel Karolina Kurkova. The event was planned by Harriette Rose Katz. A svelter Franklin, supposed to be onstage for just 15 minutes, delighted the crowd by singing for an hour with hits including “Chain of Fools,” “Respect,” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Congratulating the newlyweds, she told the crowd, “I really am an old New Yorker. It is always a pleasure to come back to New York.” The heat was too much for MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, who was tossed from the event after he caused a commotion during Franklin’s performance, and then argued with security before they ordered him to leave. “It was a beautiful affair. I over-celebrated and I regret it,” Thomas told us last night. The couple drove away in a Maserati convertible to Harry Cipriani at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel on Fifth Avenue for an after-party, where they cut their cake.
