After three years of keeping the identity of her baby’s father a secret, actress Minnie Driver has revealed some information about her former paramour.
While she still isn’t naming names, Driver has divulged that the father of her son, 3-year-old Henry Story Driver, was a writer on her now-defunct television series, “The Riches.”
“We weren’t together and he wasn’t directly in the business, so I chose to protect him and not have a rain of publicity,” Driver says, explaining to the Observer magazine why she refused to reveal this information when she was pregnant. “I don’t need to protect him anymore. He can fend for himself. He’s a grown-up.”
Driver realizes now that, by keeping this secret, she only garnered negative publicity for herself.
“I was making a film at the time and the paparazzi would shout, ‘Who’s the sperm donor?’ at me,” Driver said. “He’s not famous. There’s no big story.”
As for whether the mystery writer has been a good father, Driver says that she gives him mixed marks.
“Sort of. He’s figuring it out,” she said. “I mean, he hasn’t been that involved; his choice. But he is now.”
Driver is known for being somewhat unlucky in love. Prior to her pregnancy, she she had a broken engagement to actor Josh Brolin. Before that, she was linked to Matt Damon, her co-star in “Good Will Hunting,” who notoriously broke up with her on “Oprah.”
