Bethenny Frankel discusses miscarriage

Bethenny Frankel, formerly of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has revealed that she recently had a miscarriage.

“I’m 41. We were pregnant with a second baby and at eight weeks, I miscarried,” Frankel shared this morning on “Today.” “That was a very emotional experience … You go through a roller coaster of emotions about it — about your age, about being a woman, about can you have another baby, about are you a failure as a partner, about what if your husband married someone younger. You go through a million different things.”

Frankel appeared on the show solo, without husband Jason Hoppy or 2-year-old daughter Bryn Hoppy. She revealed that her pregnancy and miscarriage were so recent that they occurred after Bravo stopped filming for the third season of her show, “Bethenny Ever After.” Frankel got choked up talking about the experience.

“Thinking about women who can’t even have their own baby, even their first baby — I’m really lucky. I have the most beautiful daughter in the world. I’m grateful for her,” Frankel said. “Until you become a woman, you don’t know the things that come with being a woman. The window is closing, and it’s something I’m dealing with.”

Frankel said that she and Hoppy aren’t currently talking about trying again.

“I’m not really thinking about it. I don’t know what my options are,” said Frankel. “I really truthfully have thought about other women more than myself … I can’t believe what people go through if they can’t even have the one.”

The new season of “Bethenny Ever After” premieres tonight at 9pm on Bravo. Frankel has said that this season deals with both strains in her marriage and the difficulties of balancing motherhood with her business goals.
