Viola Davis: ‘I didn’t realize my ta-tas would be so prevalent’

Viola Davis did not intend to show quite as much cleavage as she did at the 43rd annual NAACP Image Awards on Friday night.

Davis stunned on the red carpet of the Shrine Auditorium in a bright orange dress with a deep plunging neckline. But she now clarifies that the sexy look was an accident.

“I picked it because of the color,” she tells Us Weekly of her Herve L. Leroux dress. “I didn’t realize my ta-tas would be so prevalent. I just pushed them up. I felt as long as they weren’t hanging down to my knees I’m doing pretty good.”

Davis was awarded Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture at the awards ceremony, which celebrates people of color in the arts. Her co-star in “The Help,” Octavia Spencer, took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Both women are also up for Academy Awards for their roles in the film.

Interestingly, upon learning that she was nominated for an Oscar, Spencer commented that she would be looking for a gown to show off her chest.

She said, “I want to accentuate the positive which would be cleavage – even though it’s saggy cleavage, it’s cleavage! – and give myself an hourglass.”
