WATCH: Howard Stern takes a seat in Matt Lauer’s lap

Howard Stern got uncomfortably close to “Today” host Matt Lauer during an appearance on the show this morning.

Stern appeared on the show to hype his debut as a judge on “America’s Got Talent” on Monday, as well as to talk about his contract negotiations with Sirius Radio. As Lauer tried to close out the segment, Stern took the conversation in an unusual direction.

“You know, you look good,” Stern told Lauer. “I’m honored to be on the ‘Today’ show. I never get to be on the ‘Today’ show. Matt and I are personal friends. We sit at my house, we drink wine, and we evaluate the show. We’re in a competition with ‘Good Morning America.’ We have to win.”

“Okay, we gotta go,” said Lauer laughing nervously. “Oh look at the time.”

Stern responded by getting out of his chair and taking a seat on Lauer’s lap. Lauer appeared terrified by the 6-foot 5-inch shock jock invading his personal space.

“Come here, you dog, you. C’mon, baby,” Stern said.

Stern threw his arms around Lauer and planted a kiss on his cheek before the show finally cut to a commercial break.

Stern was not the first person to bully Lauer during an interview this week. On Monday, Sacha Baron Cohen dropped by “Today,” in character as General Aladeen from his new movie “The Dictator.” Cohen not only told Lauer that he had kidnapped the host’s wife, but joked that Lauer had an affair with co-host Ann Curry. Lauer managed to keep a smile through that interview, too.
