James Bond director Sam Mendes has transferred his share of a multimillion-dollar Chelsea penthouse apartment into ex-wife Kate Winslet’s name, city records reveal. The couple paid $4.9 million in 2004 for the duplex penthouse in a 12-unit loft building, which was formerly the Eagle Warehouse. When the Hollywood couple scooped up the posh pad, Mendes’ rep explained they’d be using the space during stays in New York, but their primary home would be in England. Mendes and Winslet announced their split in 2010 and have remained largely mum about the breakup. “Titanic” star Winslet told Harper’s Bazaar UK last year: “I’m not going to [bleep]-fling, there’s no point in even going there. It is what it is.” But this step might indicate they’ve finally split their assets following the divorce. Mendes — who most recently directed Daniel Craig as 007 in “Skyfall” — is now dating “The Town” star Rebecca Hall, while Winslet moved on to Richard Branson’s nephew Ned Rocknroll. Other stars who’ve lived in the Eagle building include Björk and Alan Cumming.
