‘Last Tango’ in New York

Michael Fassbender and the cast of director Steve McQueen’s “Shame” showed no shame whooping it up after the film’s gala debut at the New York Film Festival on Friday evening. An after-party for the film went till 4 a.m. and drew guests including Olivia Wilde, Jeremy Renner — who arrived fresh from the set of “The Bourne Legacy”– Mamie Gummer, Zoe Kazan, Paul Dano, Gina Gershon and “The King’s Speech” director Tom Hooper, who’s in town casting his upcoming project “Les Misérables.” The Fox Searchlight party for “Shame” began at the Standard Hotel’s Boom Boom Room, a location prominently featured in the movie. “Shame,” starring Fassbender as a man struggling with sex addiction, is drawing comparisons to Bernardo Bertolucci’s Marlon Brando classic “Last Tango in Paris.” Fassbender, meantime, is also starring in another racy movie gaining Oscar buzz, Sony Classics’ “A Dangerous Method,” with Keira Knightley.
