Columbia Records chairman Rob Stringer is one of the few who’ve recently managed to pull Adele away from her newborn, Angelo James. The new mom appeared at a UJA-Federation of New York gala to give Stringer the Music Visionary Award at the Pierre last week. Stringer recalled signing the future pop star when “that young lady walked into our office with her manager and said, ‘Yeah, this’ll do,’ with a cigarette in her mouth. It’s fantastic to have her here . . . she doesn’t get out much.”
