Busta Rhymes tried to show the crowd at Finale nightclub who the real king of New York is. Rapper Kendrick Lamar ignited a hip-hop debate by declaring himself the “King of New York” on Big Sean’s track “Control.” The Compton, Calif.-bred Lamar also dissed A$AP Rocky, Drake, Wale and other rappers in his lyrics, which include: “I’m Machiavelli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York, king of the Coast.” On Tuesday, Finale mixmaster DJ Reach spotted Busta in the crowd and asked him who he thought the king of New York was. After mentioning Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z and Nas, Busta paused. “I feel like I’m the king of NYC right now!” he said and performed an hourlong medley of his rap hits.
