Tina Fanjul throws tropical golf bash à la 007

Tina Fanjul — former sister-in-law of sugar billionaire Pepe — threw a James Bond-themed bash to kick off her 19th annual ladies’ golf weekend at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. The party saw scads of socialites dressed up as Bond Girls, spies said, with Tina as Octopussy and guest Muffi James as Miss Moneypenny. Others squeezed into gold jumpsuits “à la Goldfinger,” and there were “several Pussy Galores.” (Though one guest joked that she chose a more demure costume for “what is certainly a body no longer suitable for Pussy Galore.”) Merrilee Gagnon, wife of Casa de Campo’s veteran golf director Gilles Gagnon, arrived as 007 himself. Besides “Tina’s Tournament,” her ex Alfy heads Casa de Campo’s Sugar Golf Tournament, frequented by the likes of the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Michel of Bourbon-Parma.
